MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Dixie, the dog stolen from her owners’ car last week, was reunited with the Canadian couple Friday morning. The couple’s car was at the China Inn restaurant on Elvis Presley Boulevard when Dixie was stolen on January 7. Police got a tip Thursday the pup was in the 5200 block of Haleville, where officers found a dog matching Dixie’s description. An animal hospital on Brooks Road confirmed the Yorkie was Dixie by checking her microchip. The men who police say took Dixie were spotted on surveillance footage at the Quick Check Foods, located at 2831 Kimball, where they gave the dog to Lynda Hinkley. From MPD: Suspect #1 is described as a male Black, 5’6″, 160 lbs, medium complexion, wearing a blue jacket with light blue trim, white t-shirt, brown pants, and black tennis shoes. Suspect #2 is described as a male Black, 5″7″, 190 lbs, dark complexion and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black shirt ,white pants, white tennis shoes and a white and gray hat. If you can help police identify them, call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH. Hinkley is charged with accessory after the fact – to wit burglary (auto) and theft of property over $500.
